Fremantle Arts Centre (9 KB)

Fremantle Arts Centre.
Housed in a magnificent neo-Gothic heritage listed building, the Fremantle Arts Centre is one of the State's most dynamic arts organisations, running a diverse cultural program that includes exhibitions of contemporary visual arts and craft. Construction of the building commenced in 1861 to serve as Western Australia's first purpose-built lunatic asylum.

The Fremantle Arts Centre is a service provided by the City of Fremantle and is a Smoke Free Venue. Wheel chair access is available for the ground floor.
FotoFreo 2008 Festival events include: Exhibitions by Marian Drew, Chen Nong, Christophe Bourguedieu and Hayden Fowler. In the adjourning Social History Museum there will also be an exhibition by Ian Weir.

Moores Building Contemporary Art Gallery
The Moores Building is managed by the City of Fremantle and is located in the historic  west-end, near to commercial galleries and Notre Dame University. An intrinsic facet of Fremantle’s Arts community, the gallery has six individual exhibition spaces offering interplay of history with contemporary visual art and craft. The Moores Building is a service provided by the City of Fremantle and is a Smoke Free Venue.

The new Maritime Museum, Victoria Quay (9 KB)

Western Australian Museum - Maritime
The Maritime Museum now has a new iconic building located at the western end of Victoria Quay on the south side of the Fremantle Inner Harbour. Within the building is a dedicated gallery space for travelling exhibitions and this is where the FotoFreo 2008 exhibition will be located.

Fremantle Prison (25 KB)

Fremantle Prison
The Fremantle Prison is one of Western Australia's premier heritage sites, centrally located in the heart of Fremantle. The Prison was built by convicts in the 1850s and was closed as a place of incarceration in 1991 after 136 years of continuous use. It was opened to the public in 1992 as a tourist site and in recognition of its significant heritage value was placed on the Australian Government's new National Heritage List in 2005.
