Panel Discussion
The Landscape in Australian Photography Today, with Alasdair Foster (moderator), Gael Newton, Juha Tolonen, Richard Woldendorp and Murray Fredericks.
Australia has some of the most dramatic terrain in the world. Photography is the dominant form of contemporary visual arts. Yet, with a few honourable exceptions, serious landscape photography is one of the least represented genres in Australia today.
Why is this?
In this panel, celebrated landscape photographers and writers discuss the opportunities and challenges posed when one attempts to capture the scale and variety of Australia’s natural environment. Together the panel will seek to shed light on the reasons for its relative absence from the contemporary canon.
Venue: Theatrette at the Western Australian Maritime Museum, Victoria Quay, Fremantle
Date and Time: Saturday, 17th March from 2.00 - 4.00 pm
Cost: Full Price $20; Mates Rate $15
This discussion will be followed by the launch of the book, Photography and Landscape by Rod Giblett and Juha Tolonen.
This book launch, at 4.00 - 5.00 pm will also take place at the Maritime Museum and is a FREE EVENT
