The first few hectic weeks of FotoFreo 2010 are over and most of our interstate and international guests have departed. However, the exhibitions are still open for another 2 weeks until April 18 and there is a lot to see!
Here are a few of the festival highlights so far:
FotoFreo 2010 Festival Opening Night
The opening of the FotoFreo 2010 festival was enjoyed by more than 900 guests on a beautiful and warm autumn evening at the Fremantle Arts Centre on Friday March 19. After a welcome by the Mayor of Fremantle, Dr Brad Pettit, and some encouraging words from David van Ooran, Director of Eventscorp, Gary Dufour, Chief Curator & Deputy Director of the Art Gallery of Western Australia declared the Festival open. Guests enjoyed a preview projection from the 2010 exhibitions and were able to view Another Story: Chinese Contemporary Photography; Magda Stanova, In the Shadow of Photography; Joy Horwood Cooke, A Vision of Africa.
The evening culminated with a projection of work by the students of the Magnum Workshop Fremantle.
