We have some important announcements in regard to the Magnum Workshop Fremantle and the Magnum Workshop scholarships, see below.

However, we wish to remind you that the WA Life photographic competition ($10,000 prize pool) is now open for submissions.

Also, if you are coming to FotoFreo you should register to get Mates Rates for paid events and other benefits.

Finally, we continue to call for volunteers to assist in the running of our great Festival. If you are already a volunteer you might like to lean on some of your mates and get them to sign up?

Magnum Workshop Fremantle

FotoFreo is pleased to advise that Magnum Photos (Magnum) have announced the details of its workshop programme for FotoFreo 2012.

You can go to the Magnum website to apply for a place in the workshop programme or go to the Magnum Workshop Magnum Workshop and apply.

The Magnum Workshop Fremantle is a five day practice focused photography workshop led by three experienced Magnum photographers; Antoine D’Agata, Trent Parke and Donovan Wylie. Each photographer will guide intimate groups of 12 participants who will have the opportunity to shoot, polish and publish their work under the guidance of these experienced practitioners.  

The workshops will run from Monday 19th - Friday 23rd March, 2012.

The cost of tuition is £800, plus VAT but does not include travel, accommodations or ‘on the ground’ expenses. 

Magnum Scholarships

Through the generous support of the WA Department of Culture and the Arts, FotoFreo is offering three free places, the scholarships, in the Magnum Workshop Fremantle to be held during FotoFreo 2012.

To be eligible to apply for these scholarship places you must be a photographer resident in Western Australia for at least six months and can, if requested, show evidence of that.

No Worries: Martin Parr

FotoFreo is pleased to advise that a book, published by T&G Publishing, about this important photographic project undertaken by FotoFreo and with the photographs to be exhibited during FotoFreo 2012 at the WA Maritime Museum on Victoria Quay, will be available at the opening of the exhibition.

However, the publisher has agreed to offer a limited number of these books, signed by Martin Parr, for sale pre-publication at a very substantial discount. In other words, if you wish to purchase a signed copy and are prepared to pay for it up front, you will be able to take advantage of the discount being offered.
