Education

FotoFreo is keen to encourage teachers of photomedia to get involved with this year's festival and for them to arrange tours of the many and varied exhibitions that are taking place.

To this end we are offering any secondary or tertiary teacher free travel on our scheduled and guided bus tours that will take place commencing Monday the 7th of April. All you will need to do is to make yourself known to the Tour Guide Leader and supply him with the details of your school, subjects being taught and contact details. The purpose of doing this is to acquaint teaches with the many educational opportunities we believe FotoFreo represents. However, we would much prefer you to reserve your place on any of the tours, which you can do by emailing Bookings at FotoFreo 2008 or by phoning 0403 615 166

We would also be happy to assist any teacher by giving advise as to the content and types of tours that can be arranged, so that teaches can devise their own itinerary.

To this end we have prepared an 'education pack' in the form of illustrated information sheets on most of the core exhibitions and some of the fringe exhibitions. These information sheets are listed below.

Of special interest are two special seminars to be run by the State Library on the 26th of April.

Photo Imaging Training – into the future
26 April, 10am-noon
A new national Diploma of Photo Imaging has now been endorsed and released. Come along and hear about what's in it and how it was developed. A must for all Photo Imaging/Media Educators.
All bookings through Plaza Digital at 9289 9666.

Snapshots in Time
26 April, 4pm-5pm
Snapshots in Time is a state-based community project aimed at enabling organisations and groups to conserve photographic collections by digitisation and then share them online, Australia wide. Images of social, political, contemporary and/or historical events of national significance are prime targets. Many of these are tucked away safely, hidden from view and the light-of-day, but will receive a new lease on life through this endeavour. The project networks like-minded individuals & groups together to share costs, resources, training & expertise.
All bookings through Plaza Digital at 9289 9666.
