A two day photographic workshop with Douglas Kirkland.
"Art is not what you see but what you make others see", said Degas.
Sensuality is not an obvious statement. It is the subtle pursuit of a certain quality
in beings; it is learning to look at your subjects lovingly and to bring out their love
for themselves. As Donatella Versace once said, "A woman has to be sensual, not sexy,
which can be aggressive or vulgar. Sexy all the way is Eighties; sensuality is
timeless."
This workshop will explore the philosophy and technique of photographing beauty in its
most sensual form and will focus on making meaningful images of people alone or in
relationships. You will cross the boundaries of the traditional portrait. Working with
models (nude and clothed) on location and in studio, you will explore lighting and
techniques to best bring out drama, sensuality and human connections. Kirkland will
demonstrate how to get the best out of your subjects.
Expect stimulating discussions and exchanges of ideas as well as demonstrations during
this visually charged workshop.
The participants in this workshop should include:
- Professional and commercial photographers,
- Advanced students of photography,
- Serious and enthusiastic amateur photographers.

workshop will be held on Thursday the 30th and Friday the 31st of
