4 Day Margaret River, Karri Forest and Southern Ranges Photo Tour

Whether you are a seasoned pro looking for new inspiration or an enthusiast starting out on the road to photographic creativity this tour is for you - a wonderful journey through Western Australia’s southern corner with leading Australian photographers Dale Neill and Greg Hocking. This region is blessed with spectacular coastal scenery, world-renowned wine growing regions, giant Karri and Tingle forests and picturesque rugged ranges.

Dale Neill is the current (2005) WA Professional Photographer of the Year and WA Commercial Photographer of the Year. Dale is a leading photography educator and has lead photography tours to many Australian and overseas destinations.

Greg Hocking is a Master of Photography and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography. Greg was awarded the AIPP Australian Landscape Photographer of the Year for 1997 and 1999. In 2005 Greg became the first Australian photographer to be recognized by Hasselblad Sweden as an International Hasselblad Master.

ITINERARY

Day 1. Monday 20th Fremantle to Dunsborough.
We travel south via the old Coast Road to Bunbury then on to the seaside holiday town of Dunsborough.
At sunset we visit rugged coastal scenery where you will have the opportunity to participate in a panoramic and evening photography workshop. You will also have the chance to see and handle some of the latest wide angle and panoramic cameras. Overnight in Dunsborough.

Day 2. Tuesday 21st Dunsborough to Pemberton.
We travel south through the Margaret River wine region and visit one of the many limestone caves found in this area. Here Greg and Dale will perform a short workshop on low-light and cave photography. We also visit one of the regions outstanding wineries before heading off deep into the Karri Forests around the historical timber town of Pemberton. At Pemberton we have the opportunity to bush walk under the forest canopy or rest beside a tranquil forest lake.
After dinner Dale will talk on People and Portrait photography. Overnight and Dinner in Pemberton.

Day 3. Wednesday 22nd Pemberton to Mt, Barker.
We continue on through the Karri Forests to the southern coastal town of Walpole, where we join a 3-hour boat cruise through the pristine Nuyts Wilderness area and Nornalup Inlet. Next we travel deep into the Tingle Forest to the "Valley of the Giants" and stop for lunch at the Tree Top Walk. After lunch we travel along the south coast before heading inland to Mt, Barker and the Stirling Ranges. Overnight and Dinner in Mt, Barker.

Day 4. Thursday 23rd Mt, Barker to Fremantle.
This morning we drive through the picturesque Stirling Ranges and surrounding wheat and sheep country to the historical wheat-belt town of Narrogin, where we stop for lunch. From here we travel north returning to Fremantle at approximately 17:30 hrs to conclude our tour.

14:30 hrs. Depart Bunbury for Dunsborough
15:30 hrs. Arrive Dunsborough and settle into accommodation.
17:00 hrs. Depart for coastal location to do evening and panoramic photography workshop.
19:00 hrs. Depart coast for Dunsborough.
19:30 hrs. Arrive Dunsborough.
20:00 hrs. Dinner.
21:30 hrs. After dinner talk and AV presentation.

DAY 2

08:00-09:00 hrs. Breakfast.
09:30 hrs. Depart Dunsborough for cave location to do low light photography workshop.
10:10 hrs. Arrive at cave location.
11:30 hrs Depart caves location for short tour of Margaret River wine region, then lunch at winery.
12:30 hrs. Arrive winery for lunch.
14:00 hrs. Depart for Pemberton.
16:30 hrs. Arrive Pemberton and settle into accommodation.
17:30hrs. Short walk to Beedelup Falls.
18:30hrs. Return to accommodation.
19:30 hrs Dinner
21:00 hrs "People Pictures" and socializing.

DAY 3

07:00-08:00 hrs Breakfast.
08:30 hrs. Depart for Walpole and Eco-cruise.
10:00 hrs Arrive Walpole and depart on Eco-cruise.
13:00 hrs. Depart for lunch at Tree Top Walk.
14:30 hrs. Depart Tree Top Walk for Mt. Barker.
16:30 hrs. Arrive at Mt, Barker, settle into accommodation.
17:30 hrs. Depart for sunset shoot and panoramic photography workshop.
18:30 hrs. Depart for accommodation.
19:30 hrs. Dinner
21:00 hrs. After dinner talk and socializing.

DAY 4

07:00-08:00 hrs Breakfast.
08:30 hrs Depart for Perth/Fremantle via Narrogin
13:00 hrs. Arrive Narrogin for Lunch.
14:30 hrs. Depart Narrogin for Fremantle.
17:30 hrs. Arrive Fremantle and end of tour
