2006 Festival Photographer: Patrick Brown

Patrick Brown

Born 1969, Sheffield, England (Arrived Australia 1982)

PatrickBrown (15 kb)After leaving Australia for Thailand in 1999, Patrick has been working as a photographer drawn to socially based issues.

He most recently has been working on a book about the pan-Asian trafficking of endangered species called "Black Market" which has taken him from the jungles of Assam to the brothels of Ho Chi Minh City.

In recent years he has worked for international companies and publications including: Time, Asiaweek, Year Zero, The Guardian, The Australian, The West Australian, The West Magazine, BBC, Sundays Times Magazine, Japan Times, Marie Claire (AUS, USA), The South China Morning Post, The Post Magazine, The United Nations Development Program (UNDP), UNICEF International, Foto8, Nation Newspaper, Horizonte, The Guardian, Stern magazine, Der Spiegel Magazine, Revelation Magazine, The Irrawaddy, Observer and Liberation, Mother Jones.

Patrick’s festival exhibition is entitled ‘Black Market’ and will be shown in the Fremantle Prison from the 25th of March through to the 25th of April, 2006.
